About Me

I wrote this one lame sentence about myself when I started this blog and when my brother read it, he said I need more meat…so here’s the meat on me.

I’m in my mid-30s, living in the suburbs of northern New Jersey with my husband and young daughter. After nearly 12 years in Hoboken, Essex County is now home. Jersey has been my home my whole life. I was born here, I grew up here, I went to college here and I’ll probably die here. There’s something to be said about Jersey girls and the way folks from Jersey handle things and relate to things. Literally, it’s a Jersey thing…

Originally, I started this blog as a way to get out some of my thoughts and feelings that no one could quite hear. I’m not talking about family and friends, more like the general public, the media, basically anyone who would listen or might be able to relate. From there, it just kind of took on a life of its own. There’s no real theme per se, just a stream of consciousness. Sometimes it’s about what I’m dealing with or what pisses me off or what makes me super happy or utterly confused.

A public relations and communications professional in New York City for over a decade, I’m taking some time off to raise my daughter, waiting for the next big opportunity. As I continue on this writing journey, leave me comments, let me know YOUR thoughts, let me know how I’m doing here or just say hello. Word.

Give me a buzz when you get a chance. Maybe we can help each other out.

  4. Michelle – i just read your blog. You are a talented and sensitive writer. Don’t let the world get you down.

You and your husband will survive and look back that this time as one of life’s curveballs.

  5. I end up here through linked-in. I was interested in what you had to say about internal candidates. Your blog is addictive. You need to be a consultant for web application content analyst. Start offering your services as a content writer for web applications.

I like the “double ugh” expression in Boss at target post.

    Nice job!

  6. Hi,

I found your blog through the NJ.com blogroll. I’m also a Hobo resident and I love reading neighbor blogs.

I can’t express in enough words how much I can relate to what you’re feeling. At this point, I am employed at a little trade magazine, but it’s so tiny, that after three years here, there’s really no where to progress.

As I’ve been re-evaluating my career path and goals, I’ve been feeling lost. I love writing; its a passion of mine and I feel that if I didn’t write as a journalist for a living, I would still have to use my skills in some sort of capacity–communications for a non-profit? Grant writing? Should I continue to purse to ever-tumultuous industry of magazines? No idea.

I’m also a big idea person, but not too sure how to approach baby steps. I feel like I can do anything–and that thought is overwhelming at the same time.

Well anyway, maybe be can commiserate, and help each other out. I’ll keep checking up on your blog! Mine’s at ConfessionsofaSplendaStealer.com.

    Thanks for this!
